If your holidaying with older kids or if you need some adrenelin fuelled activities on your holiday, then despite the "ruralness" of the Loire, there is plenty of activities to stretch you within easy reach of La Roultiere:

Microlite flights — just 5 mins away at Channay sur Lathan. Also you can take microlite flights at Angers airport just 35 minutes away.

Karting at The Boule D'Or Track at Loudun or near Tours.

Adventure Park Anjou at Ecoflant — tree top walks, abseiling, zip wires, noctunal trail, orienteering from beginners to adrenelin junkies

Canoeing — from Saumur its possible to paddle downstream and be returned to your start point by minibus! Or from Chinon, again hire a canoe to paddle downstream and at Montsoreau collect a bike and cycle back along the LOIRE VELO TRACK to your starting point.

Quad biking at Villandry

Golf — the region has many international standard golf courses, the nearest being at Bauge, just 15 mins away.

Horseriding — Saumur has many historical connections with equestrian sports and there are many places to ride whether you are a beginner or an experience rider. The nearest place to have a pony trek is 10 minutes away at the chateau at Gizeaux.
