Grounds at LaRoultiere

July 2012 057

La Roultiere is an old hamlet dating back to the 1700s. Now this little collection of dwellings and barns is a small community consisting of ourselves, the gites, and Madam Bureau, our elderly neightbour who has lived here since the 1930s. It is very typical of the hamlets that dot our rural area.

The local Chasse (hunt) also has its meeting house at La Roultiere and meets during the Autumn and Winter. La Roultiere is surrounded by cultivated farmland yet we have set aside several acres purely for the use of our guests, providing space for football, cricket, volleyball, badminton, and general running and biking around. Let the children's imagination get the better of them ...."its just like swallows and amazons" ... but without the boats!!

In the field in front of the swimming pool are swings, toddler play equipment and a large sandpit (bring your buckets and spades). In front of the gites is a boules pitch, the focal point for evening matches and friendly gatherings! All the gites have covered outside dining areas with barbeques and tables and chairs , in the gardens or on private terraces.

We have placed the car park away from the gites to allow plenty of safe play space. Gates are closed to prevent access in front of the gites for cars and deliveries. Trolleys are available to transfer your shopping etc. Cars are only permitted near the gites on changeover day.
